Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled with her education and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
